Who Are We?
Amraha Nadeem: President
Amraha Nadeem has been the president of the MY Impact Committee for two years. She is honored and excited to lead the committee because it allows her to play an influential role in bringing youth closer to the house of Allah (swt). On the committee, her main responsibility is to make sure everything is done in the best possible way. While Amraha is in charge, she allows every member to contribute and values their unique ideas and skills. She is always willing to assists in any task, and devotes numerous hours to the masjid through various activities. Her favorite aspect of the committee is that all of the members are so diverse and have a variety of creative ideas and skills. By working together, she believes we can conquer the impossible! Through the help of the committee, she aims to lead in organizing many events that can allow the youth of the community grow into strong and confident American Muslims. Her goal is to encourage youth to be active members of NICC because she passionately believes the youth belong here too! |
Bayan Shalash: Co-Vice President
Bayan Shalash is the second year Co- Vice-President of the MY Impact Committee. Her responsibilities include taking meeting minutes, contacting and confirming speakers, and helping other members complete their tasks. She also creates flyers and suggests ways to improve the different events that the MY Impact committee holds. Bayan’s position allows her to introduce inspiring speakers to the youth community, whose speeches and advice she hopes will impact the youth to be involved in their Muslim community. Her creativity enables her to benefit the committee by contributing innovative ideas for youth events. Bayan enjoys being a part of Muslim Youth Impact, as it gives her the opportunity to participate in planning beautiful events. She likes learning how to organize different components of community events, as she recognizes that the knowledge she gains will be useful in many other parts of her life. For Bayan, the MY Impact Committee challenges her to take on responsibility and learn how to collaborate with those who think and work differently than she does. |
Ahmed Jamal: Co-Vice President
Ahmed Jamal is the second year Vice-President of MY Impact Committee. His role is to be a representative of the youth, and for the youth. His role is also to identify and execute strategic objectives for the youth, from inception to implementation of youth activities in seminars, workshops, Qiyams, conferences, and other events. He strongly believes in collective and collaborative work, where all team members contribute under a thoughtful leadership. He is a very outgoing person, and always tries to help the community when possible. He has been volunteering in different aspects of the masjid since 2012, from teaching at Sunday School to being a representative for the youth. What Ahmed likes best about this committee is that it gives him the power to help the youth, and act as a leader for them. Ahmed has always loved helping others, and working with high schoolers gives him the ability to empower, enhance, and put smiles on the faces of the youth. |
Durya Nadeem: President of the Underclassmen
Durya Nadeem is a second year Vice President of the Underclassmen of the MY Impact Committee. She believes that the goal of this committee is to bring the youth closer to the masjid by organizing and hosting different event such as the Annual Regional Youth Conference and teen iftars. To accomplish this goal, she helps by taking on tasks ranging from reserving locations at NICC, representing MYImpact at outreach and interfaith events, to using her contacts for the purpose of booking off campus events. She excels in public speaking and exhibits great amounts of confidence in whatever she sets out to do. Thus, with her outgoing personality, she encourages her peers that may be distant from the House of Allah (swt) to take an active role in NICC since 2009. The main aspect that she cherishes about this group is that it promotes the idea of youth leaders empowering their peers. |
Tasneem Shalash: Treasurer
Tasneem Shalash is the second year treasurer of the MY Impact Committee. She manages the budget, collect receipts, and handles deposits for the committee. Tasneem handles all financial aspects of the different events that the MY Impact committee holds. She uses her position to remind the committee to use their funds responsibly and effectively. By keeping track of the budget, she ensures that all transactions run smoothly. Tasneem enjoys working closely with other members on the committee and hopes to contribute to the greater good of the youth. She values the MY Impact Committee as it teaches her responsibility and encourages her to work hard for the community. |
Qania Yousuf: Secretary
Qania is a second year secretary of the MY Impact Committee. She ensures meetings are effectively organized and often acts as an information and reference point for the other committee members. She also helps to coordinate different facets of the events planned and completes tasks so that the agenda runs smoothly. As the secretary, she is able to use her skills to ensure that there is a successful and driven youth group at this masjid. Qania loves being apart of the MY Impact Committee because not only is it a great learning experience but she also gets a chance to give back to her community at the same time. The Committee helps her grow as person and try to be the best version of herself both spiritually and intellectually. |
Maryan Mohammed: Public Relations Specialist
Maryan Mohammed is a second year public relations specialist of the MY Impact Committee. She is a very active member in this group, specifically on outreach. Maryan's skills are encompassed by her ability to talk and find connections with people outside of the committee, and even throughout the community. Whether that is through social media, email, or even on the phone, Maryan has a very outgoing personality, and is able to carry on multiple tasks efficientely and effectively. What Maryan loves most about the MY Impact Committee is how as a group we are able to represent the youth within our community and that we are able to use our skill set to reach a large amount of people and grow as individuals. |
Elaff Houmsse: Media Specialist/Photographer
Elaff Houmsse is a second year media specialist and photographer of the MY Impact Committee. Her responsibilities include taking photographs for all the events, as well as creating videos and graphics for their website (www.niccmyimpact.com). Elaff's main focus for this committee is the ability to showcase who the youth are visually. She strives to truly communicate and represent the people, scenarios, events as genuine as posible. Whether it is at the annual conferences, or the seminars, Elaffs main objective is to capture throughout her work. Other roles she works on include the website and the general media presence for the committee. Elaff enjoys being part of MY Impact because it gives access to many people in the community and that ability to use skill sets and passions to the next level. |
Areeb Narvel: Executive Officer
Areeb Narvel is a second year executive officer of the MY Impact Committee. He is required to do certain tasks to enhance the projects we take on. Areeb and the other members share opinions on certain subjects during our meetings and reach out to others in the community to share what is happening concerning the youth in the community. Areeb Narvel and the other members are able to share their ideas to help show NOOR an accurate display of what the youth want. Being a member of MY Impact, Areeb enjoys finding ways to get the youth involved in a way that they can appreciate. MY Impact has been a very successful way for Areeb Narvel to be a part of the community and to learn while having fun at the same time. |
Maryam Qadoom: Executive Officer
Maryam Qadoom is a second year executive officer of the MY Impact Committee. She has been a very active volunteer in the masjid for many years, and part of many projects throughout Columbus. Maryam takes on many roles whenever and wherever she can. She is always willing to provide the committee with resources and has been very resourceful with reaching out to the youth in our community. Maryam enjoys being part of the MY Impact Committee because she feels that it is important to be a driving force for the youth, and given the proper opportunities we can grow as a community. |
Aamir Khan: Executive Officer
Aamir Khan is a first year executive officer of the MY Impact Committee. Khan is in charge of contacting neighboring States (Michigan, Illinois, etc.) and their Muslim communities to inform them about upcoming events by the MY Impact Committee. He uses his skills as a writer to help spread the word of upcoming events in a way that interests people, and has also written multiple articles on Muslim lifestyles for his school's' newspaper. Khan also uses his position as an Executive Officer and his writing skills to bring people of all backgrounds to the Muslim Community, specifically the youth. Khan enjoys being part of the MY Impact Committee because he hopes to bring the youth of this generation back to their religion and Muslim community. He enjoys working with the diverse members of the MY Impact committee and learning about how to bring people of all backgrounds to their events, as well as how this program keeps him involved. |
Amna Jamal: Executive Officer
Amna Jamal is a first year executive officer of the MY Impact Committee. She takes on several tasks to make a positive contribution towards the youth and the NICC community. Amna is also able to help establish ideas that would be needed for future events planned by the committee members in order to work towards a strong foundation, and representation of the youth and its capabilities. Amna enjoys being a part of the MYImpact group because she views it as a strong opportunity to confidently show the community around us that we (the youth) have the ability to do what it takes to make positive change within society. Amna also appreciates the diversity among members within the group and enjoys collaborating with, and meeting new people around her. |
Djoula Diallo: Executive Officer
Djoula Diallo is a first year executive officer of the MY Impact Committee. She has been a very active volunteer with Masjid Noor for six years now. Djoula voices critical insight and offers a creative approach to being connection to the youth in our community. What Djoula likes best about working with the committee is that it lets her be more involved with the muslim community. She likes how hard working and determined everyone is to get their projects done in the best way possible. Djoula is looking forward to continue working with the youth committee and make a positive impact on the community. |
Jumana Edor: Executive Officer
Jumana is is a first year executive officer of the MY Impact Committee. Her role is to help plan different types of events for the youth, each of which assist the youth in different aspects. Jumana tries to give her utter most effort to help the youth strive. She doesn’t only take on tasks, but goes above and beyond to make sure that the tasks are done efficiently and with the best of her ability. What Jumana likes best about this committee is having the privilege to work with highly motivated individuals that work together as a team towards a complementary goal; to strengthen and enrich our youth and elevate our Islamic beliefs and values. |
Mustafa Mattan: Executive Officer
Mustafa Mattan is a first year executive officer of the MY Impact Committee. He helps out with the social media aspect of MY Impact. He helps spread the word over all social networks. As Executive Officer Mustafa likes best about the committee is that they get to bring the youth together in a way that they learn but still have fun at the same time and he loved the idea of having the youth setup events because it brings in their perspective. |
Khalid Dada: Executive Officer
Khalid Dada is a first year Executive Officer of the MY Impact Committee. He comes in to the meetings on a weekly basis and will do anything that he possibly can to help the committee in any way possible. As Executive Officer, Khalid uses his smile and kindliness to get out to people in the community to help with our events such as the Annual Youth conference and monthly seminars. By seeing Khalid's face you can just tell he loves to be around all his fellow committee members. He loves to work and especially with people that he gets along with. |
